Engineering Manager - Mobile

A close client we're partnered with is scaling fast and looking for an experienced engineering leader to own their mobile platform (iOS and Android) across the full product surface, with a particular focus on their video player stack. This is a hands-on leadership role: the right person will set technical direction, grow a high-performing team, and ship features that reach millions of subscribers daily.

What you'll do

• Lead and grow a cross-functional mobile engineering team across iOS and Android
• Own the end-to-end technical roadmap for the native mobile apps
• Drive the architecture and continuous improvement of the video playback experience - quality, performance, reliability
• Partner closely with Product, Design, and QA to deliver features on time and to a high bar
• Manage hiring, mentoring, and performance across the team
• Define and uphold engineering standards, code review culture, and release processes
• Collaborate with backend and platform teams on API design, CDN strategy, and infrastructure

What they're looking for

• 5+ years in software engineering, with 2+ years in an engineering management role
• Strong background in iOS (Swift/Obj-C) and/or Android (Kotlin/Java) native development
• Deep experience with video player technologies - ExoPlayer, AVPlayer, HLS, and MPEG-DASH inside out
• Hands-on knowledge of adaptive bitrate streaming, DRM (Widevine, FairPlay), and latency/buffering optimisation
• Experience with media pipeline concepts: CDN delivery, ABR algorithms, manifest handling
• Track record of hiring, developing, and retaining top-tier mobile engineers
• Strong communicator - comfortable working with executive stakeholders and ICs alike
• OTT, SVOD, or broadcast background strongly preferred
