Staff Backend Engineer

I'm currently hiring for an Experienced Staff Backend Engineer with real project experience using Golang or Deep Expertise in Javascript with a demonstrated ability to ramp quickly into Golang and Ruby Rails

What You’ll Be Working On:

• Lead the re-architecture of an existing platform, transitioning from monolithic backend services to modern Golang-based microservices
• Take ownership of a core middleware platform that supports large-scale streaming applications
• Build and evolve services that power key parts of the streaming ecosystem, including content metadata, playback entitlements, account services, device APIs, and data ingestion pipelines
• Design and develop distributed backend systems focused on performance, resilience, scalability, and observability
• Provide technical leadership within the team, mentoring engineers, reviewing architecture, defining APIs, and helping guide the long-term evolution of the platform

What you will already be doing:

• 5+ years of experience building backend systems or APIs in production environments
• Strong experience designing and developing scalable distributed systems
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining REST or gRPC APIs at scale
• Strong proficiency in Golang, or solid experience in Java with the ability to transition into Golang
• Experience modernizing or breaking down legacy / monolithic systems into more scalable architectures
• Experience working with cloud-based platforms and distributed environments
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases and caching technologies
• Experience working with event-driven systems or streaming data platforms
• A strong understanding of performance optimisation, concurrency, and building systems that scale reliably
