About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a dynamic team in Ghent, where you can make a significant impact in a team with varying projects. As a key member of our data team, you will design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and architectures that enable advanced analytics and insights for our organization. This role involves working with large-scale data systems, implementing efficient ETL processes, and leveraging modern tools to drive our data capabilities forward.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the execution of end-to-end Data Science projects and data pipelines:
• Explore and validate new data sources.
• Collect, clean, prepare, validate, and load data for use by Data Scientists and BI analysts.
• Develop integration tests for new data processing workflows.
• Contribute to the implementation of algorithms, including Machine Learning models.
• Design, set up, and maintain Big Data flows using Python and Spark (Scala/Python).
• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to enable data-driven decision-making.
• Lead and mentor junior data engineers, fostering innovation and continuous learning.
• Stay updated on the latest trends in Big Data and related technologies, applying advancements to the organization.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering or related roles.
• Proven expertise in Big Data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
• Hands-on experience with AWS services for data storage, processing, and orchestration.
• Proficiency in building and maintaining ETL pipelines and workflows.
• Solid understanding of data modeling, database design, and SQL..
