DOCSIS Solutions & Embedded Systems Specialist
Denver, Colorado (hybrid)
Are you the engineer people turn to when DOCSIS problems seem impossible to solve?
We're working with an established global technology company looking for a Senior DOCSIS Specialist to play a key role in the design, development, and delivery of next-generation broadband CPE solutions. You'll act as a technical expert, collaborating with customers, engineering teams, and technology partners to deliver high-performance connectivity products while helping shape future product strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership on DOCSIS technologies, product roadmaps, and solution strategy.
- Work closely with customers to define product requirements and solution architecture.
- Support hardware platform selection and guide software and firmware development throughout the product lifecycle.
- Build and maintain broadband lab environments for validation, interoperability, and performance testing.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues with engineering teams, chipset vendors, and customers.
- Develop technical documentation, deliver training, and contribute to industry standards and interoperability events.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, broadband platforms, and chipset roadmaps to support future product innovation.
What We're Looking For
DOCSIS & Broadband Expertise
- Strong experience with DOCSIS 3.0, 3.1, and 4.0.
- Deep understanding of provisioning technologies including DHCP, SNMP, TFTP, firmware management, and device configuration.
- Experience analysing DOCSIS packet captures and troubleshooting MAC-layer issues.
- Hands-on experience with broadband CPE, CMTS, or related access technologies.
- Knowledge of PacketCable, SIP, and voice provisioning is highly desirable.
Software & Networking
- Experience developing software for embedded Linux or similar embedded platforms.
- Strong debugging skills using tools such as GDB, tcpdump, Wireshark, or similar.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, including IPv4/IPv6, DNS, NAT, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, and SNMP.
- Familiarity with remote device management protocols such as TR-069, TR-181, or USP.
- Experience collaborating across hardware, firmware, and software engineering teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
- Proven experience developing broadband networking, embedded software, or telecommunications products.
- Industry certifications in networking, DOCSIS, or embedded Linux are advantageous.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills with experience working directly with customers and cross-functional engineering teams.
