Senior Video & Server Support Engineer (Temp-to-hire)

Location: Silver Spring, MD

Schedule: Initially 5 days/week, transitioning to ~3 days/week; late shift hours as needed

Overview

This person will be a key role in maintaining and upgrading infrastructure, supporting video workflows and helping drive the team’s automation goals forward. Sitting in between the two other video engineers and Charlie, they need to be someone to comfortable working across multiple areas with minimal support.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain, upgrade, and support Windows servers and related infrastructure (e.g., upgrades from 2016 to 2022).
• Support and troubleshoot video engineering workflows, including Avid and Telestream environments.
• Collaborate on building and optimizing Telestream Vantage workflows.
• Assist with integration and automation using Telestream Kumulate (MAM) for media management and storage orchestration.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate file moves, copies, and transcoding tasks.
• Provide reliable, day-to-day operational support across post-production and playout environments.

Key Skills:

• Strong understanding of video engineering fundamentals (framerates, interlaced vs. progressive, codecs, formats, etc.).
• Experience working with Avid systems and Telestream Vantage.
• Solid Windows Server administration skills, ideally including hands-on upgrades and maintenance.
• Familiarity with automation scripting (PowerShell or similar).
• General understanding of networking, storage, and IT infrastructure.
• Self-starter with good communication skills and the ability to work independently in a small, fast-moving team.
