Principal Engineer

Join our Global Streaming Technology group as a Principal Engineer, where you will be a key technical leader within the Video on Demand (VOD) team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about technology, with a strong background in engineering, software architecture, and design, particularly within the media and entertainment industry.

In this role, you will define the technical direction and make high-level decisions regarding system architecture, design, and implementation. You will contribute to the design and architecture of video encoding and packaging solutions, ensuring that requirements, designs, and architecture incorporate resiliency, reliability, and observability. Leveraging tools to visually capture end-to-end component infrastructure with rich detail, you will create, document, and update media workflow diagrams. Additionally, you will review requirements and specifications, translating these into test cases for both manual and automated workflows. Driving innovation by researching and implementing new technologies and methodologies, you will lead code reviews and ensure high standards of code quality.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering, software architecture, and design.
• Deep understanding and experience in video workflows, codecs, DRM, encoding, and packaging including CMAF, HEVC, UHD, HDR, ABR, HLS, Dash, SSAI.
• Strong knowledge of Cloud technologies inclusive of AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Knowledge of OTT streaming protocols such as CMAF, HLS, and DASH.
• Commitment to quality in every task, large or small.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
